Hull Paragon Railway Station Short Listed for International Rail Award
HULL Paragon railway station has been short listed for an
international award.
The station, which is managed by First TransPennine Express, is
in the running for 'Best Large Station' in the International
Station Awards.
Judges from across Europe will visit the station on Thursday (18
September) to compare it against other short listed stations in the
competition. This includes stations in Holland, Northern Ireland,
Republic of Ireland and England.
Dean Lancaster, station manager, said: "Hull Paragon has
benefited from a major refurbishment and it is great that this has
been recognised, as well as the hard working staff we have and good
transport integration. It is a fantastic achievement to be short
listed for these international awards and I look forward to seeing
how we compare to the other stations in the competition."
The judges will be assessing the station on a range of points
including its facilities, cleanliness, friendliness of staff and
community involvement.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Belfast
on Thursday 13th November 2008.
