Return of popular rail service for holiday makers
A direct rail service will return between Glasgow and Blackpool due to popular demand and following the success of its operation last year.
First TransPennine Express (FTPE), which operates services across the north of England and into Scotland will be providing holiday makers to and from Glasgow with stress free and great value services to the popular tourist hotspot of Blackpool.
FTPE ran the services for the first time in 20 years in 2010 and due to their popularity they will again be running in the summer of 2011.
Services will operate on Saturdays and Sundays and customers will this year be able to take advantage of great value fares from as little as £12.50 for a single ticket. The direct services will run between 25th June and 10th September.
FTPE are also advising customers that from Sunday 22nd May 2011 there will be a number of changes to train timetables.
Posters and revised timetables have been issued to stations and customers are being encouraged to check the details of their journeys as departure and arrival times might have altered slightly.
Edith Rodgers, FTPE's Customer Services Director commented;
"We are delighted to bring back the direct Glasgow Blackpool services as they were very successful last year. We hope that these services will increase the number of tourists and weekend visitors to Blackpool."
"I would add that some of the departure times have changes and whilst we have provided posters at stations and new timetables we are urging passengers to check the details of their journey before they travel."
The amended timetable will be in operation from Sunday May 22nd until Sunday 10thDecember 2011.
Customers can download the amended timetables by visiting www.tpexpress.co.uk or check live departures and arrivals by viewing FTPE's GPS enabled mobile site by typing in the above website address to any SMART technology phone.
