First TransPennine Express celebrate a decade of operation by offering 10,000 travellers ten pounds off travel
Thursday 6th February: As a thank you for ten years of operation First TransPennine Express (FTPE) are giving something back to customers by offering 10,000 people a £10 discount off their Advance tickets. Lucky travellers on the FTPE network between Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds also found themselves invited to a birthday party to celebrate the train operator's milestone.
FTPE's surprise was made a little extra special with close-up magic performed on the Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds service by famous British magician Paul Daniels. Paul chatted to commuters and wowed them with an array of tricks as he travelled on the FTPE service.
A crack team of balloon artists and magicians were on hand at Leeds and Manchester Picadilly stations to ensure commuters got into the party spirit before they had even boarded the train, with promotional staff handing out party bags. The offer for ten pounds off FTPE Advance tickets was presented to commuters in the form of a special birthday card, found in the party bags amongst other assorted birthday items.
The celebration was the latest part of the 'Going The Extra Mile' campaign, that sees FTPE undertake a series of fun and engaging small goodwill gestures across their lines with the hopes of creating excitement and further good feeling with customers. This activity has been an extra special reason to celebrate due to the tenth birthday of FTPE.
Paul Daniels said: "As a magician I know that there is nothing better than seeing the reaction on the faces of the people I perform for. It was great fun to surprise First TransPennine travellers today with some magic – it was fantastic to see the delight and astonishment on their faces."
