Why take the train to Burneside?
The tiny village of Burneside in Cumbria - which has just 2,000 inhabitants and a handful of amenities to serve their needs - is quietly tucked away on the Windermere line at the edge of the Lake District.
Sightseers often take the train to Burneside to visit Burneside Hall, a ruined, Grade II listed 14th century pele tower, which is located just outside the village, or simply to explore the surrounding countryside.
It's also conveniently close to the popular tourist towns of Kendal and Windermere.
From 1st April 2016, services to this station will be operated by Northern.
