Why take the train to Kirkham & Wesham?
Located midway between Blackpool and Preston, Kirkham & Wesham railway station serves the neighbouring towns of Kirkham, once a thriving textiles centre, and Wesham.
Kirkham’s Church Street was the inspiration for L.S. Lowry’s drawing ‘A Lancashire Village, 1935’. Visitors who take a train to Kirkham can still see the site today, and view Kirkham’s ‘Last Loom’ on display on Station Road too.
Just down the road is Wesham, a former cotton milling town – be sure to pay a visit to the especially distinctive war memorial on The Square, as well as the Grade II-listed Christ Church.
From 1st April 2016, services to this station will be operated by Northern.
