Why take the train to Lockerbie?
Many people will know Lockerbie as the site of the infamous 1988 bombing, when Pan AM Flight 103 tragically exploded and then crashed into the town. Today, you can visit the Dryfesdale Lodge Visitors' Centre to find out more about the disaster.
Although an important part of its history, this Scottish town doesn't let the terrible catastrophe define it... Take one of our trains to Lockerbie and you'll find it has a charm all its own - from the wonderful red sandstone buildings (the Town Hall is particularly impressive) to Lockerbie ice rink, one of the oldest in the country.
Hungry? The Hightae Inn, located just outside the town, is the ideal place to enjoy dinner, or you can try Café 91 to sample some authentic Scottish cuisine.
