Why take the train to Lostock?
Lostock, a popular residential area, lies a few miles west of Bolton. Lostock Hall, the Elizabethan manor house that once stood here, was demolished long ago but the impressive Grade II-listed gatehouse remains and is worth a look during your visit.
Formerly known as Lostock Junction, Lostock station has been in operation since 1852. Although the rail service has been scaled back over the years, trains to Lostock are still very well-used by commuters travelling home from a working day in nearby Preston.
From Friday 1st April 2016, services to this station will be operated by Northern.
