Irish festival

From 2-18 March the streets of Manchester will come alive with all things Irish. It's not all Guinness and Leprechauns: you can try your hand at Irish dancing, watch all-Irish battle of the band competitions and even enjoy the fruits of the Emerald Isle at the Albert Square Market. St Patrick's Day is, inevitably, a highlight - make sure you're there!

FutureEverything

An annual conference and festival incorporating art, music and 'ideas', FutureEverything 2012 takes place from 16-19 May. Established by a digital innovation company of the same name, this year's FutureEverything festival will be hosted at the city's Museum of Science and Industry and promises a top line up of musicians and arty exhibits - head to the website for imminent line-up announcements.

Dot to Dot

Short but sweet, this one-day festival hits Manchester on 4 June and in previous years has seen the likes of Ellie Goulding, Wild Beasts, The Temper Trap and Mumford and Sons take to the stage. The 2012 event is sure to be no exception, and takes place at venues across the city. Bring lots of energy, and you'll come away with your new favourite band.

Sounds from the Other City

Manchester's neighbouring city of Salford isn't one to miss out on the festival action. Sounds from the Other City takes place on 6 May and promises a mixture of live bands, DJs and club nights across a number of Salford venues. Be sure to pack your dancing shoes, this one's going to get loud.
