Although this town may not generally be known for its wild nightlife there are quite a lot of pubs and some really good live music. Kendal Calling has become a big event in recent years and many flock to Kendal for the scene.
The thing that makes Kendal Calling so unique is the fact that it's located in an amazing setting and really gives people the spirit to get into live music. It's a music festival that is extremely popular with the locals and attracts others from across the country. It won the award for best small festival in 2010 and 2011 and just continues to grow. This festival attracts the likes of Calvin Harris, OK Go and the Futureheads.
Plug N Play
Plug N Play is a music venue in Penrith that is run by the locals. There was a need for a musical venue in this town and this was set up 10 years ago. Since then it's grown to have performances from International musicians such as Isaac Guillory, Martin Stephenson and Tommy Emmanuel.
The Warehouse is Penrith's main nightclub and can also be used as a sports bar and a pub. For live entertainment head down on Friday and Sunday evenings as many local bands come here to perform. The main nightclub area is quite large and has a capacity over 900 people. If you love football then head down there to watch all of the premier league action on the 12 foot screen.
