Why take the train to Penrith?
Penrith is a red brick market town nestled snugly into the
rolling fells of the Eden Valley in the north of the Lake District.
Formerly the Cumbrian capital, Penrith Castle - built by William
Strickland and expanded by Richard III - still stands as a
reminder.
Acorn Bank Garden & Watermill
In a nutshell, a lovingly preserved, walled herb garden
surrounded by ancient oaks and more. An absolute haven in
Penrith.
The Rheged Centre
A modern, grass-covered triumph designed to look like a Lakeland
hill. All we can say is look at the website and then go!
Penrith Castle
Don't you just love a castle with a moat? An imposing sandstone
'castle of kings' that has partially survived since 1399.
