28 May 2016 00:34 - Major engineering work taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend… find out more
A total of £30m will be invested by Network Rail over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Work is taking place to renew track, upgrade signalling systems and increase the capacity of the network so more trains can run in the future.
The work has been planned to minimise disruption, as passenger numbers typically drop by more than half during a bank holiday. The overwhelming majority of journeys will run as normal.
Major improvement work is taking place this weekend that will affect journeys:
• To and from London Kings Cross / Moorgate
• To and from London Charing Cross / London Cannon Street
• To and from London Liverpool Street via Shenfield
• Between Bristol and Gloucester / Newport / Severn Beach
• In the Crewe area
• Between Lancaster / Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
Details of all this weekend's engineering works can be found on the Future Engineering Work pages.
