We've teamed up with Felix the Huddersfield Station Cat to support the ‘Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas Appeal and help thousands of vulnerable and underprivileged children across the North of England.
It is estimated that one in four children living in our towns and cities across our network live in poverty, and many families will not be able to buy gifts this Christmas. The appeal aims to fill Santa’s sleigh with enough presents to make sure no child wakes up without a gift on Christmas morning, and relies on generous donations of money and toys by people across the North. Last year more than £8.8 million in gifts and donations made it a very special Christmas for more than 187,000 local children, but this year everyone wants to do even more.
This year, Felix the Huddersfield Station Cat, our famous Senior Pest Controller, has released a range of Christmas goodies including a 2018 calendar, an advent calendar and soft toy, with all our profits going to the charity.

Alongside this, 25p from every TPE ticket that is printed at home will go towards this fantastic cause, and 50p from the sale of on-board Christmas biscuits will be donated to the charity.
Our colleagues are also being asked to support the charity by buying just one extra toy this Christmas to donate. Colleagues can also get involved with Christmas jumper days, as well as the sorting of presents at the Cash for Kids warehouse, and the packing of the Felix goodies.
This is the third year that we have raised money for the Mission Christmas appeals, and this year we're hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds.
Charlie French, Transport Integration Manager, TransPennine Express, said: "This appeal makes a huge difference to children across the North and I'm thrilled that TPE are able to help. We’re doing more than ever before; with the Felix’s goodies, 25p donation from each print at home ticket, and 50p from sales of our on-board Christmas biscuits donated to the charity. Our colleagues will also be getting involved with Christmas Jumper Days, donating toys, and really getting hands on with present sorting at the Cash for Kids warehouse, and packing the Felix items. We really want to make a difference this Christmas supporting this amazing charity."
Sally Aitchison MBE Managing Director Bauer Media’s Cash for Kids, said: “We are very excited that once again the amazing team at TPE are raising money for Cash for Kids Mission Christmas. There are so many ways in which customers can support our appeal and with some lovely Christmas gift ideas too. We would like to thank the whole team for their continued support and together we will put a little magic into Christmas for the thousands of children who would otherwise wake up to nothing on Christmas morning.”
