Kristian Nairn, one of the stars of Game of Thrones has launched our new on board entertainment service which is now available on our Anglo-Scottish route.
The service, named Exstream, is now available for all customers travelling on the route between Glasgow/Edinburgh and Manchester Airport, giving customers the chance to view more than 150 shows and films, including ITV’s Coronation Street, Sky’s A League of Their Own, and Keeping up with the Kardashians.
Kristian Nairn, best known for playing the role of Hodor in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, launched the service North of the Wall in Glasgow Central Station, before travelling on board to Manchester, giving lucky customers a surprise by making announcements on the journey.
Selected episodes of Game of Thrones, series one and two, are now available on board TPE trains, which is available to access by downloading the TPE App. The new service also gives access to feature films such as James Bond’s Spectre, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Mad Max: Fury Road as well as the latest news plus popular magazines including Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health and Stylist.
Kristian Nairn said: “I was delighted to be able to launch Exstream for TransPennine Express . After meeting some fantastic people in Glasgow, I managed to sit down on board with a cup of tea and watch the first two episodes of series one of Game of Thrones. It brought back some great memories!
“Now I’m looking forward to my next journey where I can catch up on some shows and films I have missed recently.”
Leo Goodwin, Managing Director of TransPennine Express, said: “We really enjoyed having Kristian launch our new service. It’s a fantastic milestone for TransPennine Express as we open up a whole world of entertainment for our customers.
“So whether you want to catch up with League of Their Own, listen to some music or read the latest issue of a magazine, the free service is there for all to take advantage of.”
Kristian Nairn has also treated those travelling on board TPE services across the North and Scotland to a listen of his new single, Bigger, which is part of another feature of Exstream which allows customers to listen to their favourite podcasts.
The launch of the new entertainment system comes as TPE seek to transform the experience on-board their trains for customers.
