Students can now save 50% on rail travel by using a simple code.
As freshers travel to their new halls of residence and returning students head back to University, TransPennine Express is giving them a helping hand with the money saving code TPESTUDENT.
Students with a 16-25 railcard booking direct with the train company can save their money by simply entering the code when buying via the TPE app or by following the link and clicking on the orange ‘buy tickets’ button: Student Train Tickets | Save 50% | TransPennine Express (tpexpress.co.uk)
Darren Higgins, Commercial Director for TransPennine Express, said: “Whether you’re heading off to University, or discovering all the great cities nearby once you’re there, you can now bag yourself a bargain with our student offer.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer 50% savings on rail travel to students across the North of England and Scotland.
“This year, getting together with friends, exploring with university friends and visiting family outside of term time has never felt better and our student offer will hopefully make those adventures and reunions simpler and more cost effective.”
In order to take full advantage of the savings, people under the age of 26 years old or full-time mature students, need to purchase a 16-25 railcard and enjoy half price advance purchase train tickets when booking direct with TPE using the code, giving travellers 50% off instead of the standard 1/3 railcard saving.
TPE serve more than 40 universities across the North of England and Scotland and will be present at five freshers fairs during September, including Manchester (20th), Sheffield (21st), Leeds (22nd), Liverpool (23rd) and Newcastle (28th). The train company will be giving away goodies on the stand plus a chance to win one of ten student railcards each day.
For those looking to travel by train, tickets can be purchased online via the TPE website or using the TPExpress App where people can pay using Apple or Google Pay or PayPal. E-tickets are also available allowing customers to use their phone instead of a paper ticket.
The train company is encouraging all customers, unless exempt, to wear a face covering at stations and onboard our trains as a courtesy to others. More information can be found here https://www.tpexpress.co.uk/travelling-with-us/travel-with-confidence
