We are teaming up with Key 103 to help thousands of children living in poverty this Christmas
We will be helping to put a smile on the faces of thousands of vulnerable and underprivileged children by supporting radio station Key 103’s ‘Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas Appeal.
It is estimated that one in three children living in towns and cities across the FTPE network live in poverty, and many will wake up on Christmas morning without a present, as their families simply cannot afford to buy gifts. The appeal aims to fill Santa’s sleigh with enough presents to make sure no child wakes up without a gift on Christmas morning and relies on generous donations of toys by people across the North of England. Last year the appeal collected more than 32,000 presents for children in Greater Manchester alone, but with an estimated 150,000 children living poverty in the region, there’s still a long way to go.
FTPE are supporting the appeal in lots of ways, with staff being asked to buy just one extra toy this Christmas to donate to the cause. At midday on Tuesday 15 December the FTPE choir will be raising funds for the appeal by performing at Manchester Airport Train Station. The choir will then board a train that has been specially decorated on the outside with Christmas vinyl and sing all the way to Huddersfield Train Station before performing there.
Russell Feingold, Charity Manager at Key 103 ‘Cash for Kids’ commented: “Here at Key 103 Cash for Kids we’re really proud that FTPE is doing so much for the Mission Christmas Appeal. We rely on the generosity of businesses like FTPE to engage their staff and go above and beyond the call of duty for children in the area.”
