Golden Spanner win
First TransPennine Express is celebrating their third success at the Golden Spanner Awards, run every year by Modern Railways magazine. The awards recognise and celebrate fleet reliability across the UK. This year FTPE received a silver award in the New Generation Diesel Multiple Unit category. The award recognises the improved reliability of their 170 class, which are subleased from Chiltern Railways Ltd. Fleet Director Paul Staples said: "I'm immensely proud of the work done by the Class 170 performance team under Chris Massey's and Nick Sworowski's excellent leadership. They have marshalled the efforts of depot and operational colleagues alike to get the best out of our Class 170 fleet. It's a tribute to FTPE's values that even though we know that the four Turbostar units are likely to leave FTPE service some time in 2016, we have continued to invest time, money and effort in improving their performance. It's fabulous to see that effort being recognised across the industry like this."
