Middlesbrough railway station welcomes new pop-up stall, the ‘Stottie Hut’
TransPennine Express (TPE) is thrilled to welcome the first of its new market traders, ‘The Stottie Company’, to Middlesbrough railway station.
Based in Stockon-on-Tees, husband and wife duo, ‘The Stottie Company’ will be opening their famous ‘Stottie Hut’ on the main concourse on Friday 9th September 2016 and will be on site at the station from Monday to Friday during busy peak times.
The pop-up stall will be selling a variety of tasty products including bacon butties, sausage sarnies and burgers, all served on a traditional Stottie bread bun. Cold sandwiches will also be available containing traditional north eastern fillings such as ham and Pease Pudding.
TPE has invited local retailers, small businesses and independent tradersto sell their local products at the busy working railway station and hopes to host an assortment of pop-ups on different days of the week.
This initiative mirrors the success of a similar venture at Huddersfield station in West Yorkshire, which has played host to a variety of regular stalls over the last few years. The stalls have proved to be hugely popular with local customers and visitors alike.
Station Manager, Mike Drewery said: “We are delighted to welcome the first of our market traders, the Stottie company, to Middlesbrough station and hope that the 1.3 million customers that visit every year enjoy sampling the tasty, local products on offer.
“We’ve had lots of interest from different traders so far and there are still places available so I’d encourage other local businesses and retailers to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We are very proud of our Northern roots and want to do everything we can to support our local community.”
Sharon Olivero-Chapman, Managing Director for The Stottie Company, said: “We are very excited about bringing our brand into Middlesbrough. Our Stottie Hut is a great side kick to our Coffee House Restaurant in Stockton. Our chefs will be on site this weekend and for the early morning and evening commutes daily thereafter.”
