As winter draws to a close the region warms up with a host of wacky spring events
Skipping by the seaside
When: 4 March
What: Skipping on Shrove Tuesday used to be a tradition across the UK. While it died out in most places, it’s still alive and well in Scarborough, where public pancake races and skipping along the promenade are an annual highlight.
Where: Avenham and Miller parks, Preston
When: 21 April
What: Every year, 25,000 people come to Avenham and Miller parks for a huge Easter egg rolling festival. And if you don’t fancy egg rolling, there’s a brilliant selection of entertainment and food on offer, making this a grand day out!
The Witches’ Revenge obstacle challenge
When: 13 April
What: A 10km course that weaves its way through parks along the river Lune. Expect to swing, crawl, climb, bounce and even shoot! It’s certainly a tough experience, but one that’ll make you smile too.
