Catch Hansel And Gretel And More Tales From The Forest in Lancaster this summer.
Do you remember Hansel and Gretel and the wicked witch who lived in a house made of sweets? From 4 July to 16 August, you can see a new production of the classic fairy story in the wonderful open air of Williamson Park in Lancaster. The award-winning Dukes theatre has been presenting outdoor productions for over 25 years and this one is sure to top them all.
This new adaptation by Zosia Wand presents not only Hansel and Gretel, but an entire collection of other fantastic tales too. The stories full of hunters, forest creatures, edible houses and outwitted witches will whisk you away – literally – with the audience physically following the action, moving from one fantastic location to another within the glorious setting of this beautiful Edwardian park.
You will take in the park’s centrepiece too – the stunning Ashton Memorial. It’s been described as the grandest monument in England and, standing there, you’ll be able to enjoy stunning sunset views across Morecambe Bay during the show. Even the wicked witch won’t keep us away.
