Glow at the Illuminating York festival
See York in a new light as the city is illuminated. From 31 October until 3 November the city's iconic attractions will welcome you for a series of special exhibitions, with venues opening their doors out of hours.

Celebrate the art of independent film at this year's ASFF. There's something for every film fan, from animations and music videos to dramas and documentaries, meaning there's plenty to see during the four days from 8-11 November.
Find festive fun at the St Nicholas Fayre
Make a start on your shopping at York's Christmas market from 29 November until 2 December. Local artists and crafters gather to sell their wares, while carol singers and buskers provide a festive soundtrack.
Live the fairytale at the Grand Opera House, York
Once upon a time, York was chosen to host a glittering version of Sleeping Beauty starring none other than Syd Little. So prepare to be dazzled! The play runs from 14 December until 6 January.
Discover the city's past at 1212: the making of the city
This must-see exhibition at the Yorkshire Museum marks the 800th anniversary of York's independence, and celebrates the people and events that have contributed to it. On until 1 February.
