Manchester speciality Eccles cake is first up for the taste challenge. It's a small round cake made with a flaky pastry and loaded with currants.


Another classic treat from the region is the Bakewell tart - shortcrust pastry, sponge, jam and ground almonds and topped with icing and a cherry.


We went to Sheffield station to ask passengers which they preferred. The cake fight is on!
