From Saturday 2 June to Sunday 29 July 2018, there will be partial and full closure of lines into Liverpool Lime Street Station, affecting all journeys to/from the station during this period.
Network Rail is undertaking the biggest upgrade of Liverpool Lime Street station since the 19th Century. Once complete, the improvements will enable faster, more frequent and more reliable train services in and out of Merseyside’s key transport hub.
From 2019 an extra three services will be able to run in / out of Lime Street station every hour, including new direct services operated by TransPennine Express to Scotland.
Despite these works, the Liverpool city region remains open for business. You can still get where you want to go, but will need to make some changes of service during your journey.
At all times during the eight-week period, TransPennine Express services to/from Liverpool will start and terminate from Manchester Victoria. Our Scarborough to Liverpool and Newcastle to Liverpool services will no longer serve Liverpool Lime Street, Newton-le-Willows or Lea Green stations.
Northern, East Midlands Trains, Virgin Trains and London Midland will also be affected by these works.
Depending on when you are due to travel, you may have to use a different Manchester station for connections:
2 to 10 June /14 to 29 July (also evenings after 8pm from 11 June to 13 July)
During this period please use TransPennine Express services to Manchester PICCADILLY.
At Manchester Piccadilly you can change onto Northern or East Midlands Trains services to Liverpool South Parkway.
At Liverpool South Parkway, you can change for Merseyrail train services to Liverpool Central (journey time 14 mins) or for a rail replacement bus to Liverpool Lime Street (journey time approx 26 mins).
From 11 June to 13 July (until 8pm each day)
During this period please use TransPennine Express services to Manchester VICTORIA.
At Manchester Victoria you can change onto a Northern train service to Liverpool Lime Street station.
