From time to time maintenance work needs to be carried out on the rail network to help improve our rail services. Generally this work will occur overnight or at weekends. Search below to find out if there are any planned changes to our train times that may affect your journey.

  • Overnight services to Huddersfield17/06/2013 - 21/06/2013

    Monday to Thursday

    The 2156 Newcastle to Manchester Airport service will be re-timed to run up to 16 minutes later than normal between Huddersfield and Manchester Airport.

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will not call at Huddersfield.

    A replacement bus will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0005 tue-fri) to Dewsbury to connect with the train and will then return to Huddersfield.

    Tuesday to Friday

    The 0138 & 0252 York to Manchester Airport services will not call at Huddersfield but will call additionally at Brighouse.

    Replacement buses will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0227 & 0340) to Brighouse to connect with the train and will then return from Brighouse to Huddersfield connecting off the train.

  • Windermere branchline alterations22/06/2013 - 23/06/2013

    SATURDAY

    The 2115 Oxenholme to Windermere and 2140 Windermere to Preston services will be replaced by buses.

    SUNDAY

    The 1007 Preston to Windermere service will be replaced by a bus.

    The 1101 Windermere to Oxenholme service will be replaced by a bus, departing Windermere at 1033 to provide a connection with the 1123 London Euston departure from Oxenholme .

    Rail replacement buses will operate from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly to connect.

     

    The 0138 York to Manchester Airport service will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly.

    A replacement bus will operate from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport.

  • Overnight services between Manchester & York13/07/2013 - 14/07/2013

    Saturday

    The 2230 Liverpool Lime St to York service will terminate at Stalybridge.

    A replacement bus will run from Stalybridge to York via Huddersfield and Leeds.

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly.

    A replacement bus will run from Manchester Piccadilly to York via Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds.

     

    Sunday

    The 0122 & 0443 Manchester Airport to York, 0244, 0359, 0512, 0612 & 0712 York to Manchester Airport services will not run and will be replaced by buses throughout.

    The 0624 Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough and 0724 Manchester Airport to Newcastle services will start from York.

    Additional services will operate as follows:

    0719, 0819 & 0919 Stalybridge to Manchester Airport via Manchester Piccadilly.

    0710 Huddersfield to Leeds via Dewsbury replacement bus.

    0624 Manchester Airport to Stalybridge (via Manchester Piccadilly) with a replacement bus forward to Leeds via Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

    0724 Manchester Airport to Stalybridge (via Manchester Piccadilly) with a replacement bus forward to Huddersfield.

  • Services to Wigan North Western13/07/2013 - 20/07/2013

    Saturday

    The 0546 Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North service will be diverted and will not call at Wigan North Western.

    Monday to Friday

    The 0546 Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North, 2008 Barrow-in-Furness to Manchester Airport and 2200 Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness services will be diverted and will not call at Wigan North Western.

    Alternative services are available between Manchester and Wigan Wallgate operated by Northern Rail.

    Rail Replacement buses will operate from Preston to Wigan North Western operated by Virgin Trains.

    This work is part of a major route upgrade taking place for 9 days between Preston and Wigan North Western / Warrington Bank Quay and will significantly affect Virgin Trains services on the West Coast Mainline and Northern Rail services between Liverpool and Wigan / Preston.

    For the duration of these works First TransPennine Express services between Manchester and Preston / Glasgow Central / Edinburgh may see increased patronage as customers travelling to / from London Euston may travel via Manchester Piccadilly.

    The 2200 Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness service will terminate at Carnforth.

    A replacement bus will operate from Carnforth to Barrow-in-Furness calling at all intermediate stations.

  • First service from Barrow-in-Furness23/07/2013 - 26/07/2013

    The 0435 Barrow-in-Furness to Lancaster service will not run and will be replaced by a bus.

  • Sunday services between Manchester & Preston28/07/2013 - 28/07/2013

    Services from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North will be diverted between Deansgate and Preston and will not call at Salford Crescent , Bolton, Horwich Parkway, Chorley or Buckshaw Parkway. These services will call additionally at Wigan North Western. Normal departure times apply.

    Exception:

    The 2230 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service will run via it's normal route but will not call at Salford Crescent and will be re-timed to run up to 10 minutes later than normal between Bolton and Blackpool North.

    Services FROM Blackpool North to Manchester Airport will be diverted between Preston and Deansgate and will not call at Buckshaw Parkway, Chorley, Horwich Parkway, Bolton or Salford Crescent. These services will be re-timed to depart Blackpool Noth, Poulton-le-Fylde and Preston 5 minutes later than normal and will call additionally at Wigan North Western.

    Exception:

    The 2303 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport service will run via it's normal route but will be re-timed to depart Bolton and Manchester Piccadilly later than normal.

    Customers for Bolton, Horwich Parkway, Chorley and Buckshaw Parkway should be advised to use Northern Rail services between Manchester Victoria and Preston / Blackpool North.

    Services between Manchester Airport and Barrow-in-Furness, Windermere, Edinburgh and Glasgow Central will be diverted and will not call at Bolton or Chorley.

    A hourly Rail Replacement bus service will operate between Bolton and Manchester Airport direct.

  • Overnight services to Huddersfield29/07/2013 - 02/08/2013

    Monday to Thursday

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will not call at Huddersfield and will be retimed to depart Dewsbury at 0040.

    A replacement bus will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0006 tue-fri) to Dewsbury to connect with the train and will then return to Huddersfield.

    Tuesday to Friday

    The 0138 & 0252 York to Manchester Airport services will not call at Huddersfield but will call additionally at Brighouse.

    Replacement buses will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0227 & 0340) to Brighouse to connect with the train which will then return from Brighouse to Huddersfield connecting off the train.

    Replacement buses at Huddersfield depart from Stand S1 on St George's Square outside the main entrance to the station.

    The 2230 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service will terminate at Preston and will not call at Kirkham & Wesham, Poulton-le-Fylde or Blackpool North.

    The 0001 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service will terminate at Preston.

    A replacement bus will run from Blackpool North (dep 0312) to Preston to connect.

     

  • Weekend services north of York24/08/2013 - 25/08/2013

    Saturday

    The 1835 Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough service will be extended to Newcastle calling additionally at Darlington (2153), Durham (2210) and Chester-le-Street (2216).

    The 1920 Manchester Airport to Newcastle service will terminate at York.

    The 2010 Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport service will be re-timed to depart Middlesbrough EARLIER at 1946 and depart stations to York up to 30 minutes EARLIER than normal.

    The 2051 Middlesbrough to Manchester Piccadilly service will start from York.

    An additional service will run from Middlesbrough (dep 2051) to York via Thornaby, Yarm & Northallerton.

    The 2150 Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport service will start from York.

    A replacement bus service will operate from Middlesbrough (dep 2150) to York via Thornaby, Yarm, Northallerton and Thirsk.

     

    Sunday

    Services between Liverpool / Manchester and Newcastle will only operate between Liverpool / Manchester and York.

    Customers for Northallerton, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle will need to change trains at York using services provided by other operators.

    A limited number of services will operate between Newcastle and Durham calling at Chester-le-Street.

     

    Services between Liverpool / Manchester and Middlesbrough will only operate between Liverpool / Manchester and York.

    Customers for Yarm, Thornaby and Middlesbrough will need to change trains at York using services provided by other operators to Northallerton.

    Rail services will operate between Northallerton and Middlesbrough.

    A limited number of direct bus services will also operate between York and Middlesbrough.

    Customers for Thirsk will need to travel to Northallerton and change for a separate shuttle bus service.

    Exceptions: The 0624 Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough service will run as advertised.

    The 2208 Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport service will start from York.

    An additioanl service will run from Middlesbrough (dep 2208) to York (arr 2348) calling at Thornaby (2213), Yarm (2221), Northallerton (2237), Thirsk (2245 ).

    The 0920 Scarborough to Manchester Airport service will start from York.

    The 0933 Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street service will be diverted to start from Scarborough at 0920.

    Until 1645 services between Manchester Airport and Sheffield / Cleethorpes will be diverted and will not call at Stockport.

    Customers for Stockport should travel via Manchester Piccadilly and change there for replacement bus services (provided by Northern Rail).

    The 0001 & 0400 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North & 0337 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport services will e replaced by buses throughout.

  • First service to Chorley & Horwich Parkway27/08/2013 - 30/08/2013

    The 0516 Preston to Manchester Airport service will be diverted and will not call at Chorley or Horwich Parkway.

    A replacement bus will operate from Preston to Bolton calling at Chorley (0541) & Horwich Parkway (0556).

    The 2230 Liverpool Lime St to York service will operate as 2 separate trains:

    Train 1: 2230 Liverpool Lime St to Huddersfield with a replacement bus forward from Huddersfield to York setting down only at Dewsbury & Leeds.

    Train 2: Leeds to York at previously advertised times.

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will be replaced by a bus throughout.

     

    Sunday

    The 0122 & 0443 Manchester Airport to York, 0244, 0359 & 0512 York to Manchester Airport services will not run and will be replaced by buses throughout.

    Train 1: 0718 York to Leeds with a bus forward to Manchester Piccadilly calling at Dewsbury, Huddersfield and Stalybridge.

    Train 2: 0819 Stalybridge to Manchester Airport via Manchester Piccadilly at normal times.

    The 0810 York to Manchrester Airport service will operate as 2 separate trains:

    A replacement bus will run from Manchester Victoria to Manchester Airport via Manchester Piccadilly.

    Monday to Thursday

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will not call at Huddersfield.

    A replacement bus will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0006 tue-fri) to Dewsbury to connect with the train which will then return to Huddersfield (dep Dewsbury 0050).

    Tuesday to Friday

    The 0138 & 0252 York to Manchester Airport services will not call at Huddersfield but will call additionally at Brighouse.

    Replacement buses will operate from Huddersfield (dep 0227 & 0340) to Brighouse to connect with the train which will then return from Brighouse to Huddersfield connecting off the train.

    Replacement buses at Huddersfield depart from Stand S1 on St George's Square outside the main entrance to the station.

    The 0001 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service will be diverted to start from Manchester Victoria at 0021. A replacement bus will run from Manchester Airport (dep 2332 Sun) to Bolton via Manchester Piccadilly (dep 2357) to connect with the train.

    The 0337 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport and 0400 Manchester Airport to Blackpool North services will be replaced by buses throughout.

  • Late evening services to Dewsbury02/09/2013 - 06/09/2013

    The 2318 Manchester Airport to York service will be diverted and will not call at Dewsbury.  Customers for Dewsbury should change at Huddersfield for a replacement bus which will depart at 0035 from the station forecourt - bus stand S1.

    The 2156 Newcastle to Manchester Airport service will be diverted and will not call at Dewsbury. This service will be re-timed to depart Huddersfield later than normal at 0012.

    Customers for Dewsbury should change at Leeds for a replacement bus which will depart from outside the main station entrance at 2345. This bus will pick up / set down at Dewsbury at 0010 and continue to Huddersfield and as required to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
