As soon as you know the time and date you'd like to travel, book an Advance Purchase train ticket and you could save over 50%.
Not only do Advance Purchase tickets offer great value for money, book before the day you travel and you'll bag yourself a seat reservation too.
You can now buy train tickets for all TPE routes up to 24 weeks in advance, which is when they are at their cheapest.
In general, Advance Purchase tickets must be bought by 18:00 at least one day before you travel, however a limited number of tickets on some routes are available up to 15 minutes before departure.
All you need to do is be flexible with train times and book with us as early as you can to get the cheapest deal - remember, we won't charge you any booking or credit card fees.
Please be aware that some dates are excluded due to engineering works and will open at 12 weeks before travel, rather than 24 weeks.
Advance Purchase is now open for services until Saturday 9 December, with the following exceptions:
Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th October – some North and South route services unavailable due to a full block between Leeds-Stalybridge.
Advance purchase tickets are available on the majority of longer distance TransPennine Express journeys
Tickets are one-way
Seat reservations are not provided for Advance tickets bought on the day of departure
The majority of advance tickets must be purchased before 18:00 on the day prior to travel, however a limited number of tickets are available on some routes up to 15 minutes before departure (a list of applicable routes is available here)
Savings are calculated by comparing advance purchase standard single ticket fares for 300 TransPennine Express journeys, purchased before the day of travel to the equivalent price of an Anytime Standard Single ticket
Due to the limited availability and popularity of these tickets, please book early to avoid disappointment
Advance Purchase Tickets are valid only for the train service for which they are booked
Changes to the date and time can be made before departure, but are subject to an administration fee
Advance Purchase Tickets are non-refundable
If you buy your tickets with a Railcard, don't forget to take it with you when you travel, as your ticket won't be valid without it
