Full of funny and adorable stories, Felix the Railway Cat is the remarkable true tale of a close-knit community and its relationship with a very special cat. A week on from the launch, the novel is proving more popular than the famous feline could have imagined.
Reaching the top twenty in the Amazon top one hundred best sellers, the book sold out on online retailer Hive, with the news from Felix’s local Huddersfield Waterstones a little more magical:
Sarah Nuttall, Waterstones Regional Commercial Manager, commented: “Since the launch on Thursday 23 February we’ve seen incredible demand; we had a launch party on Saturday where we actually sold out! We’ve had people getting in touch from across the UK and as far away as New York and Toronto asking about the book.
Felix the Railway Cat has seen our highest three day sales since Harry Potter, outselling bestselling authors such as Lee Child, Jamie Oliver and David Walliams. It is simply amazing!”
All TransPennine Express (TPE) royalties from the sales of the book go to the charity Prostate Cancer UK, FirstGroup’s colleague nominated charity, who fund research to stop prostate cancer being a killer, and support men and their families affected by the disease.
James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “What a tale Felix has to tell! We are thrilled that people are enjoying the book and incredibly grateful to TPE for choosing to donate their royalties from the sales to Prostate Cancer UK.
“As well as raising vital funds, this initiative will also raise awareness of a disease which affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. Our aim is to reach as many men as possible, and hopefully this will give people paws for thought about an important health message. We thank Felix, the purrrfect ambassador, for using her status in Huddersfield to highlight this important issue and the team at TPE for continuing to help us in the fight against prostate cancer.”
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director at TPE, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted that the book is selling so well, Felix means so much to so many people, and not only will this book help to bring her closer to her fans, it will help a fantastic cause as TPE are donating all royalties to Prostate Cancer UK.”
