Due to industrial action being taken by RMT members on the 21, 23 and 25 June, TPE will be operating a very limited timetable.
Extra train services are set to be introduced next month on the route between Glasgow and Manchester.
The enhancements will be welcome news to those looking to plan their next adventure, whether it’s heading to the Lake District for a spot of paddle boarding or experiencing some culture at one of Glasgow’s fantastic museums.
From 16 August 2021, we will be bringing in two additional services on the route, boosting connectivity between Glasgow Central, Motherwell, Lockerbie, Carlisle, Penrith, Oxenholme, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
Commenting on the planned changes, Luke Gardner, Long Term Planning Timetable Manager for TransPennine Express said: “We are thrilled to be able to introduce these extra services for those looking to take the train as part of their next adventure.
“We are expecting our trains on the route to and from Glasgow to be popular and wanted to introduce some extra services to accommodate this. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers onboard and I would encourage people to plan their journeys in advance and book ahead.”
Enhanced cleaning is in place on trains and at stations and anyone planning a day out by train can do so with confidence.
For those looking to travel, tickets can be purchased online via our website or using the TPExpress App where people can now pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal. E-tickets are also available allowing customers to use their phone instead of a paper ticket.
The extra services, which will be in place between Mondays and Saturdays are as follows:
