More seats for Brough, Dewsbury, Malton, Scunthorpe, Stalybridge and Thornaby stations
Brand new bench seating has been installed for customers on the platforms of six of TransPennine Express’s (TPE’s) railway stations.
More than £75,000 has been invested in 45 benches replacing the old seating at Brough, Dewsbury, Malton, Scunthorpe, Stalybridge and Thornaby.
The addition of new, comfortable benches forms part of TPE’s plan to further enhance the customer experience whether waiting for train or travelling on one.
The ergonomically designed seating has been provided by UK-based Zoeftig who provide public seating at major airports on every continent across the globe and the benches were installed by NG Bailey Facilities based in Leeds.
TPE is committed to the communities it serves and will be investing £18 million in its stations over the life of the franchise with improvements ranging from faster free Wi-Fi to brand new information screens.
Graham Meiklejohn, Regional Development Manager for TransPennine Express said: ”Our stations are the gateways to travel in the North and it’s important that we keep on improving and enhancing these. I hope that customers are pleased with the new seating which provides a comfortable place to wait for the train.”
The train company manages the following stations across the North; Barnetby, Brough, Cleethorpes, Dewsbury, Grimsby, Huddersfield, Hull, Manchester Airport, Malton, Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, Seamer, Selby, Stalybridge, Thirsk, Thornaby and Yarm.
