Why Grange-over-Sands?

Grange-over-Sands is a very small parish by the sea sat comfortably between the dramatic North Lakes and the rugged Irish Sea. Historically the town was a small fishing village. However the construction of the Furness railway transformed it into a charming Edwardian resort.

The town is a now a centre for tourists exploring the southern Lakeland Fells. Within the town itself there is an ornamental duck pond and a traffic free promenade. Grange-over-Sands railway station, which is incredibly picturesque, is situated on the Furness Line, giving connections to Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness to the west, and Lancaster, Preston and Manchester to the east.

Holker Hall and Gardens
The majestic red brick hall and its magnificent award winning gardens are simply spectacular. Equally spellbinding on a late summer's evening or a snowy winter's day.

Hampsfell Hospice
A small brick tower built by the Vicar of Cartmel in 1846 to provide shelter to travellers. The uphill walk in Grange-over-Sands should be just long enough to prepare for the jaw dropping views at the top.

Lakeland Motor Museum
A shed full of old bangers I hear you ask? Not at all! More like an insight into the dexterity of our forefathers and a tribute to Donald Malcolm Campbell and his 'Blue Birds'.
