Why take the train to Selby?
Nestled on the banks of the River Ouse, Selby's main attraction is the spectacular Selby Abbey. One of the few remaining abbey churches from the medieval period and the birthplace of Henry I, it's a must-see if you decide to take a train to Selby - be sure to look out for the famous 'Washington Window'.
Sport is big news in this market town, with Selby Town football club, Selby Town RUFC and Selby Cricket club regularly drawing in the crowds. If shopping's more your thing, there's plenty of exciting stores on offer at the Abbey Walk Shopping Centre.
In need of some evening entertainment too? The Town Hall hosts a range of brilliant music, dance, drama and comedy performances at weekends.
