  1. The Comedy Club at HiFi

  2. Where: 2 Central Road, Leeds, LS1 6DE.

This Saturday night feast of comedy has been a staple in Leeds for over 20 years. Doors open at around 6.30pm and the event runs until 10.30pm with the first comedian on stage around 7.45pm. It’s been the launchpad for so many comedians over the years, including the likes of Joe Lycett, Katherine Ryan, Jason Manford, Jon Richardson, Sarah Millican and Russell Howard.

Acts including Alun Cochrane, Tom Wrigglesworth and Matt Richardson are all scheduled to take to the stage in January at The Comedy Club. Advance tickets are around £14, so get yourself down. Just remember that fancy dress isn’t allowed.

  3. House of Fun

For a dose of midweek or weekend comedy, head down to House of Fun – one of the longest running comedy clubs in Leeds. There are two House of Fun venues: The Wardrobe and The Original Oak. The Original Oak in Headingley promises laughs on a Friday while The Wardrobe offers midweek giggles.

Previous acts include the likes of Alan Carr, Jason Manford, Rhod Gilbert, Michael McIntyre, Jack Whitehall, Chris Ramsey, Stewart Lee, John Bishop and Lucy Porter. You can see Nabil Abdulrashid, Tatty Macleod and Fiona Allen performing this February.

Make your way to Pryzm on a Saturday night for a unique comedy experience. Comedy Cabaret hosts three or more top comedians from 8pm (with pre-show drinks from 7pm). Once the final comedian leaves the stage, you can party until 3am in the club.

Alan Carr and John Bishop had early shows here, and in early 2024 you can catch the likes of Llyod Griffith, Dani Johns, Scott Bennett and Jack Gleadow telling the jokes.

  9. Leeds Playhouse

  10. Where: Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UP.

Comedy gigs used to be much more frequent at Leeds Playhouse, but when they do put one on these days it’s usually a top performer. And that’s the case in early 2024, with Stewart Lee performing across three nights at the start of February. Grab your tickets as they’re going fast.
