"Kirkstall Abbey is one of my favourite places in the whole city"

Kirkstall Abbey

This is one of my favourite places in the whole city. The abbey ruins are magnificent and the gardens are really beautiful, too. It's one of the most complete and oldest Cistercian abbeys in Europe so people come from all over to see it. There's a wonderful atmosphere to the place.

Tropical World

Butterflies, snakes, scorpions, waterfalls, tropical temperatures - we have it all in Leeds! Tropical World in Roundhay Park is an unbelievable place which whisks you away to a warm jungle-like environment however cold it is outside. Children love seeing all of the wildlife up close.

The Olive Tree, Headingley

This is one of the best restaurants in Leeds. It's just up by the university, and the Greek food is amazing - they do a brilliant matured steak with briam, a Greek-style ratatouille. The city has hundreds of great places to eat, so there's something for everyone, whatever their taste.

Leeds Arena

The Leeds Arena opens in the city centre this year and it's set to be a great new feather in our cap. It's a 13,000-seater arena and the building is absolutely stunning. It's going to host everything from concerts to sport and comedy. The Kaiser Chiefs are playing one of the first few shows, so it'll be good to see a local band leading the way.

The Royal Armouries

This museum has the biggest collection of medieval weapons outside of London. It's spread across several floors and there's so much to see - plus there are displays of archery and jousting which fascinate visitors. To top it off, entry is free.
