With the release of The BFG in cinemas, Oakwood Library has come up with the perfect way to celebrate it – The Big Friendly Picnic. This free event will take place in the library’s garden, which will be opened up for a whole host of Roald Dahl-themed activities. This fabulous family day out in Leeds encourages kids to dress as their favourite character – 10 points for whoever comes as The Twits. Bring a picnic (some refreshments will be provided too), a blanket and join in the fun.

Leeds Grand Theatre & Opera House (22nd-27th August)

Sing Hallelujah for the all new production of Sister Act, the feel-good musical comedy based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith. This all new production of the Broadway and West End smash hit musical comedy returns to the UK this month, directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood and starring Alexandra Burke.

Bramham Park, Leeds (26th-29th August)

One of the North’s greatest music festivals is back for another year of live entertainment in Bramham Park.
