Our app is the ultimate travel buddy; book tickets, check live train times, and more.
First Class rail travel is the way to go if you need to plug in and keep working on the go, or if you fancy treating yourself on an extra special journey.
All our trains have a First Class area with spacious, comfortable reclining seats and generous legroom plus free Wi-Fi, power sockets and USB points at every seat. So you can relax and stay connected on your journey.
Due to the current pandemic, we’re unable to offer catering on our trains. This will be re-introduced as soon as possible, and our website will be updated once a date is confirmed. Please also bear in mind, we have reduced First Class seat availability due to social distancing measures. Check before you travel and book in advance where you can.
Make First Class even more epic with films, TV shows, magazines and much more on Exstream. Download the free TPExpress app and connect to the onboard Wi-Fi to start streaming. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the main event all from your seat.
There are a few ways to save on First Class tickets on your next journey with us:
Buy in advance - book First Class Advance Purchase tickets and you could save over 50%. Advance tickets have to be used on the specific train chosen at the time you book and offer great value for money.
On the day – upgrade your Standard Class ticket on any TransPennine Express service on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays with our Weekend First offer. The price depends on how far you’re travelling; either £10, £15 or £20 per person one-way. Ask your Conductor how much the upgrade is for your journey. Simply find an unreserved First Class seat and pay the Conductor for your upgrade.
Seatfrog - if you’ve booked a Standard Class ticket, you can use the free Seatfrog app to bid for a last-minute upgrade. Auctions open 24hrs before departure.
Please note Weekend First is subject to availability and spaces are limited. There are no child or Railcard discounts available.
Enjoy free Wi-Fi plus power sockets and USB points at every seat in First Class.
