Advance Tickets
Advance tickets are valid only for the specific train(s) shown on your ticket. If you miss your booked service, you will need to purchase a new ticket to travel. In the event of a delay during your journey, you may use the next available service(s) to complete your journey, including with other operators where appropriate.
Railcards
If you're travelling on a discounted ticket with a Railcard, you must carry your valid Railcard with you when you travel. Failure to present a valid Railcard will result in the need to purchase a new ticket.
Printed eTickets (Print-at-Home Tickets)
- The person travelling must be the payment card holder and must carry the card used for the booking.
- The payment card holder must be named as the lead passenger on the booking.
- All tickets must be printed on white A4 paper before you travel.
- eTickets are available for Airport Advance & Connections tickets.
Flight Delays - Airport Advance Tickets
If you are travelling on an Airport Advance ticket from Manchester Airport or Liverpool Airport (bus connection) and your flight is delayed, the following special concession applies:
- You may take the next available train(s) to your destination, including services with other operators.
- This concession is valid for up to 3 hours after your original train's departure time.
- If the next train to your destination is scheduled more than 3 hours later, you may use that service instead.
- Important: To use this concession, your ticket must be endorsed at a station ticket office or the Information Point on Platform 2.
Please note:
- Allow at least 1 hour between your flight’s arrival and your train’s departure to allow time for immigration, customs, and baggage collection.
- Tickets will not be endorsed if insufficient time was allowed to reach your original service.
- Flight details may be checked to confirm delays.
Customers using this concession will not have a reserved seat on the next service.
Customers are not permitted to travel on an earlier service than the one booked. Travelling earlier than your ticketed time will be considered as travelling without a valid ticket.
Please note that if a customer has purchased a Manchester Airport Advance Purchase & Connections ticket and is affected by a flight delay, they may complete the full journey shown on their ticket, provided it has been appropriately endorsed.
Tickets must be purchased in advance of travel and are subject to availability. They are not available for purchase on the day of travel. To secure the best fares, customers are encouraged to book as early as possible.
