Our app is the ultimate travel buddy; book tickets, check live train times, and more.
Even the best laid plans change sometimes, so we’ve made it simple for you to change your train ticket if you need to.
We've removed the £10 charge to change the date or time of train tickets bought via our website or App. Simply log in to My Account to amend (there may be an additional cost if your new ticket is more expensive than the original).
The way you change your ticket depends on two things: the type of ticket and how you bought it. Do bear in mind that if you want to change your train ticket, you will need to do this before travelling.
Super Off-Peak, Off-Peak and Anytime train tickets can be changed to a different time, date or route.
Advance fares can be changed to a different time and date only. However, until Friday 30th September 2022 we’ll be temporarily amending our Advance tickets terms & conditions as we want you to travel with confidence when you book with us. We already allow for fee free changes as part of our commitment to you, but until the end of the year you can return your Advance ticket to us in exchange for a digital or paper Rail Travel Voucher for use on any future journey or purchase. We only ask that if you do need to make this change that it’s done prior to 18:00 the day before you’re booked to travel.

If you want to change a paper ticket, log into your account, select your booking, view details and amend your journey. If your journey is more than five days away, we'll send your new tickets to you - postal fees apply. If it's within five days, you'll need to visit a staffed ticket office to amend your paper tickets. Alternatively, contact our support team at 0345 600 1671 or email email@example.com for help.
To change an eTicket, you will need to purchase a new ticket and submit a refund claim for the original. This new ticket will need to be for the same route and have the same origin and destination stations. It will also need to be purchased before the departure date and time of the original booking.
Please select ‘Change of Journey – new journey booked’ as the reason when submitting your refund claim and also provide your new Booking Reference number.
At a station
Go to a staffed train station and speak to a member of ticket office staff who will be happy to help.
From another company or third party
If they’re paper tickets then you can change them at any staffed ticket office. If they’re eTickets however, you’ll need to contact the retailer from where you purchased them.
We offer refund for a range of reasons - check if you're eligible and apply.
