Car Free Lake District

Enjoy the beautiful Lake District by train and experience everything the region has to offer without taking a car.

TransPennine Express has services into the Lake District and Cumbria from Liverpool, Manchester Airport, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Arrive at Oxenholme and connect with services to the market town of Kendal and the Lakeland town of Windermere.

If you arrive at Penrith, you can explore this lovely town with its own castle and then take a bus to Pooley Bridge and journey across Ullswater, one of the Lake District’s largest lakes on Ullswater Steamers.

Explore the city including Carlisle Cathedral when you arrive in Carlisle. From here you can take a local bus to the charming small town of Brampton.
