Seatfrog Secret Fare

You can book your Secret Fare ticket from when services open for reservation (usually around 5 months before) up until 2 days before the journey. 

Seatfrog will send your ticket 24 hours before your departure.

No, you will only get your ticket via email.

Tickets booked through Secret Fare are non refundable, unless your journey was delayed or cancelled. In this case your ticket will be subject to the same Delay Repay and refund terms as our usual tickets.

In the case of disruption, your ticket will be subject to the same Delay Repay and refund terms as our usual tickets.

Secret Fare tickets are eligible on selected routes across our network. These are: Preston to Edinburgh, Manchester to Newcastle, Liverpool to York, Manchester to Scarborough, Manchester to Middlesborough, and Newcastle to Leeds. You can also travel the opposite way.

1. You can only buy Seatfrog Secret Fare tickets at https://secretfare.seatfrog.com/ 

2. Secret Fare tickets are subject to availability. Availability is higher on weekdays and more limited on weekends. For some routes availability may be affected by engineering works.

3. Secret Fare tickets are Standard Class single tickets. They are one way tickets only.

4. Our available routes for Secret Fare are Preston to Edinburgh, Manchester to Newcastle, Liverpool to York, Manchester to Scarborough, Manchester to Middlesborough, and Newcastle to Leeds. You can also travel the opposite way.

5. You can book your Secret Fare ticket from when services open for reservation (usually around 5 months before) up until 21 days before the journey. 

6. You must choose between a morning (07:00 to 11:59), afternoon (12:00 to 16:59) or evening (17:00 to 21:00) time slot at time of booking. 24 hours before you go, we’ll match you to an empty seat and you’ll get an email confirming your train departure time.

7. Break of journey is not permitted, so you can only go on the train we book for you. This means you can’t break your journey by hopping off and getting on another train later.

8. You must travel to and from the destination on your ticket. You cannot get off or on at an earlier or later stop.

9. You can buy a maximum of 9 tickets per booking. We can’t promise that all passengers in the same booking will be seated together, this is subject to availability.

11. You also can’t use Railcards, or another offer or promotion when you buy Secret Fare tickets.

12. There are no refunds or exchanges. Please double check your ticket before you buy.

13. Secret Fare tickets are eligible to Delay Repay.

14. Bookings are subject to our terms and conditions and the National Rail Conditions of Travel.
