Current Service Disruption

What's happening?

There will be no TransPennine Express train services between Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed due to urgent repairs to a bridge. Disruption is expected to last until end of day Wednesday 11th October.

A limited TransPennine Express train service will operate between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh.

Services may be altered or cancelled at short notice. Customers are strongly advised to check their journeys carefully before travelling and allow extra time: journeycheck.com/tpexpress/ or via National Rail Enquires.

Alternative journey options

If a service you had planned to travel on does not operate, your ticket will be valid on the previous or next available TransPennine Express service at no extra charge. Replacement transport has been requested for customers travelling between Newcastle and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Tickets for TransPennine Express services will be accepted on CrossCountry, Northern, and ScotRail services between Newcastle and Edinburgh in both directions.

Compensation & Refunds

If the train that you were intending to travel on is cancelled or are unable to complete your journey, then you can apply for a refund. Refunds in these circumstances will not be subject to an admin fee and you are asked to submit your refund within 28 days of your intended date of travel.
