Northern Rail Industrial Action

Allow extra time for travel

TransPennine Express services will be running as normal

On Thursday 24 and Saturday 26 May 2018 conductors employed by Northern (who are members of the RMT union) have planned industrial action.

Although TransPennine Express services will be running as normal, Northern will only be able to run a limited number of train services therefore many of our trains will be much busier than usual.

This may cause small delays to some services, so please allow extra time where possible to complete your journey.

Ticket information

If you have an Advance ticket (marked as TPE & connections) for travel on the strike dates where part of your journey requires travelling on a Northern service, either to connect with a TransPennine Express service or to complete your journey, then you may travel on the day before or the day after the strike days without having to make changes to your ticket.

Tickets marked 'AP Northern Only' will be accepted on TransPennine Express services on Thursday 24 and Saturday 26 May 2018 only.

You should attempt to travel as close as possible to your original booked time, but because you are travelling on a different day, your seat reservation will no longer be valid.

This only applies to Advance tickets. If you have any other ticket type then you must travel within the restrictions set out for that ticket.

Tickets marked 'Northern Only' will not be accepted on our services on any dates.
