Charity begins at home and for us, this covers hundreds of places across the North and Scotland. We're proud to be a good neighbour and provide support to the communities we serve - it's an essential to achieving our mission to take the North further.
This support comes in many shapes and sizes, keep reading to get a feel for what we’re doing!
As part of First Group, we also help to support the group’s chosen corporate charity partner at the time. This partnership has allowed for amazing contributions in both time and money from people all over First Group and our variety of businesses.
Our current charity partner is Action for Children, an amazing organisation which helps to support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support. If you want to find out more about what they do, then please click here.
As well as our corporate partners We love raising money for a wide-ranging variety of causes. Our teams have been involved in everything from bake sales at our stations to entering teams in the Three Peaks Challenge, Great North Run and Manchester 10k. Local causes dear to our teams and national causes which impact lives all over the country have all been recipients of donations raised and made by TransPennine Express staff.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has somewhat limited our ability to hold activities on our stations, we have always welcomed charities to our stations to allow them to promote their causes and carry out collections. If you would like to host a charity collection day at one of our stations, please get in touch.
We support a wide range of local charities by offering train tickets as prizes for raffles. These tickets can then be used to raise funds for these good causes. If you would like a little more information about how ticket donations could help support your charity then please get in touch.
That’s right, you can experience the thrill of driving one of our Class 185 simulators at one of our depots. The experience is available for up to 6 people (over 18s only, sorry kids!) at York or Ardwick depot and costs £130 per group. All of the money raised from these experience days is donated to The National Railway Museum and Railway Benefit Fund. Fancy giving it a try? Get in touch.
Not every way we give back to our community involves financial donations or gifts in kind, we also love to volunteer our time to support good causes. We work with local schools to provide careers advice, mock interviews and rail safety days, and work with charities to lend a helping hand where they need it most. Find out more about our plans to develop volunteering opportunities at TransPennine Express. If you have a project you'd like us to get involved with, please Get in touch.
We believe that the impact we can have on those that surround our network comes from strength in three areas, charitable activity, engagement with the world of Community Rail and a focus on providing social value.
