By its own admission Meadowhall is one of the best connected shopping centres in the country. This is thanks to the Meadowhall Passenger Transport Interchange (PTI), here you’ll find your local and regional bus and tram connections. City Taxis also operate in Sheffield and serve Meadowhall.
Trains to Meadowhall from Sheffield train station take between five and 10 minutes, whilst the journey from Doncaster can take between 20 minutes and half an hour. Leeds to Meadowhall trains have a journey time of around an hour, and those leaving Barnsley will arrive at the shopping centre in around 15 minutes.
At Meadowhall train station there are toilets, ticket machines, seating areas and options for food and refreshments. You’ll also have all the facilities of Meadowhall shopping centre right on hand too.
There are regular direct trains to and from Meadowhall from a variety of locations in Yorkshire. During the week, the last trains to leave the shopping centre do so at around 00:20 with the first running in the morning at just before 06:00. The first train in the morning from Sheffield leaves at 05:15, with around eight trains running from Sheffield to Meadowhall every hour during the week.
You have a few options to get cheap train tickets to Meadowhall. The first is to travel during off-peak times and to be flexible with your travel plans. If you’re getting the train to Meadowhall regularly for work, a season ticket will help cut the cost of travel, whilst a Railcard can also save you up to 1/3 on train tickets.
At just over an hour from Manchester and 10 minutes from Sheffield, Meadowhall is perfectly placed to be one of the North’s most impressive shopping centres. Especially when you consider some of stats: it’s made of 2m bricks, has 280 stores and attracts 25m shoppers a year. Who all fit perfectly in 1,500,000 sq ft of leading and independent stores.
Once the shopping is done you’ll find a host of other activities in and around Meadowhall. Just 5 minutes away is the Sheffield Arena where you can see internationally famous acts all year round. In the centre of Sheffield itself is the Millennium Gallery – the home of art, craft and design in the city, with a varied collection of exhibitions and events to see. Finally, there’s Kelham Island Museum. Come here to discover how the Industrial Revolution first transformed the city and then the world.
Options for dining at Meadowhall are abundant. Whether you’d love a Lemon Gloss donut from Krispy Kreme or fancy a gluten free Americano at Pizza Express, it’s all here. You’ll find us chowing down on the Chicken Katsu Curry at Wagamama.
Sadly, Hotel Chocolat doesn’t do rooms but there are other options available for hotels near Meadowhall. There’s the Travelodge Sheffield Meadowhall – a trusted brand that is central to many great locations from Laser Quest to the Sheffield Ice Arena. Overlooking the picturesque Victoria Quays, the Hilton Sheffield Hotel is the perfect location – just a 10-minute walk to the city centre.
Meadowhall is the largest shopping centre in Yorkshire, so retail opportunities here are not thin on the ground.
