Early & Late May Bank Holidays 2026

During both the Early and Late May Bank Holidays, Monday the 4th and Monday the 25th May engineering work will be taking place on our Network.

Between Manchester, Huddersfield and Leeds

TransPennine Express:

Liverpool Lime Street to Hull: runs between Leeds and Hull only

Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle: diverted between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury, calling additionally at Lea Green and Brighouse

Manchester Airport to Redcar Central: runs between Manchester Victoria and Redcar Central only, diverted between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury, and calling additionally at Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge and Brighouse

Manchester Victoria to Scarborough: diverted between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury, calling additionally at Castleton and Brighouse

Manchester Piccadilly to York (via Castleford): split to operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield, and Wakefield Kirkgate to York

Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds (Peak only): runs between Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield only

Northern:

Wigan to Leeds via Dewsbury: split to operate between Wigan and Todmorden, and Halifax to Leeds via Dewsbury 

Replacement Bus Service:

Manchester Airport to Brighouse: via Stockport 

Huddersfield to Brighouse: direct 

Huddersfield to Wakefield Kirkgate: calling at Deighton and Mirfield 

Marsden to Brighouse: calling at Slaithwaite (AM peak only, service does not call Huddersfield)

Brighouse to Marsden: calling at Slaithwaite (PM peak only, service does not call Huddersfield) 

Sunday 3 and Monday 4 May 2026 (Early May Bank Holiday)

Due to engineering improvement works, buses will replace trains between Manchester Victoria/Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street.

Rail replacement buses:

• Manchester Victoria <> Liverpool Lime Street (direct)
• Warrington Central <> Liverpool Lime Street (via Liverpool South Parkway) (until 12pm Monday 4 May)

Customers travelling to/from Irlam or Urmston should use Northern services.

Weekend travel changes: 4–26 May (excluding Sunday 24 May, including the Monday 25 May Bank Holiday)

Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds (peak only): these services will not run.

Manchester Airport to Stalybridge via Manchester Victoria: Saturday only service

Wigan to Leeds via Dewsbury:  split to operate Wigan to Todmorden and Halifax to Leeds via Dewsbury.

Sheffield to Huddersfield: runs between Sheffield and Lockwood only
